Mayor’s Court
Communities not served by a municipal court have a mayor’s court. Mayor’s courts are state courts that hear traffic cases, drug possession charges and other misdemeanors. These courts are not authorized to conduct jury trials. Instead, the presiding officer is usually a magistrate appointed by the mayor.
