Columbus Mayor’s Court Lawyer
Communities not served by a municipal court have a mayor’s court. Mayor’s courts are state courts that hear traffic cases, drug possession charges and other misdemeanors. These courts are not authorized to conduct jury trials. Instead, the presiding officer is usually a magistrate appointed by the mayor.
Appearing in mayor’s court without a lawyer is never a good idea, especially if you’re facing a repeat OVI/DUI charge. Your rights are being affected. You could lose your driver’s license, have a significant fine imposed or even face time in jail.

Westerville Criminal Defense Lawyer
Every type of criminal offense — even a misdemeanor — impacts you. An outcome in a mayor’s court case that may seem minor now could surface a year or more later and hurt your chances for a scholarship or a job. Investing in aggressive legal representation now protects your future.
I have a thorough understanding of how these local mayor’s courts work. Often, I’m able to reach an agreement ahead of a scheduled appearance. I also understand and can explain all of your options, both before and after a mayor’s court appearance.
For example, a person charged with an offense that may result in a jail term is entitled to a jury trial and may have his or her case transferred to a municipal or county court. Or if your case receives an outcome that we do not believe is fair, I can help you appeal the case to a county municipal court.
I offer a free initial consultation, during which I can review the circumstances of your mayor’s court case and help you determine the best course of action. Don’t go into mayor’s court alone. If you have been arrested for underage drinking or another offense that will be heard in mayor’s court, call a Columbus mayor’s court attorney at 614-523-3576 or e-mail me to schedule an initial consultation.
I accept major credit cards from my criminal law and family law clients.
